The present work furthers a more profound approach for 3d structure modeling with the Finite Element Method. An emphasis lies on structural dynamics, the eigenfrequencies, and their respective modes. The scope is to improve the validity of complex models in general, and that of an engine-transmission-assembly in particular. Additionally, lean modeling will be focused. This means to minimize input parameters while
achieving a specified solution quality. This modeling strategy for 3d FE-models makes the accurate calculation of an engine-transmission-assembly‘s eigenfrequencies related to global modes possible. The numerical models are validated via experimental modal analysis.
