The present thesis focusses on developing an approach for more efficient and transparent processes within quality management of the grain process chain.
Due to specifications deriving from national or EU wide legislation as well as requirements that can be deduced from obligatory quality standards, every player on each process stage is forced to perform extensive documentation to assure the possibility of retracing a product to its raw materials, if need be. Process mappings in Agriculture, Agricultural transport and Warehousing confirm, that all three levels already use software systems that sensibly support their days’ work. Necessary documentation though, is often still executed by hand and documents are exchanged in paper. In supplementary surveys of farmers and truck drivers additional data are collected and the affinity of these stakeholders to-wards new technology is reviewed. Based on these findings, the approach “AgriQ” is de-veloped that allows each process party to exchange documentation relevant information via QR-Codes and to transfer them into their own software programs. For public authorities, AgriQ includes the possibility of a direct tracing function for each batch of grain in case of a necessary product recall due to a unique Identification Number. By using AgriQ it is possible to retrace a specific batch of grain with one click right back to the field where it was grown and to identify every involved party in the process.
On all three reviewed process levels, AgriQ can save - partly extensive - amounts of time and therefore of money, while potentially expediting the retracing process for batches of bulk commodities.
