The classical driving simulation approach is a valuable tool for traffic conflict research and a development-related research environment for driver assistance and information systems. Though, in urban traffic, social interaction is essential to ensure a safe and efficient flow of traffic – this aspect is poorly fulfilled by the classical approach. This thesis describes studies with a multi-party setting and introduces adequate data analysis methods. The benefit and potential use cases for this novel approach are discussed.
