Alpha-helical membrane proteins are vital for many biological processes, sequence-based interaction sites prediction tools are highly motivated for membrane protein structure prediction, mutagenesis, and better small molecular drug design. In this study, we created the Transmembrane HOmodimer Interface Prediction Algorithm (THOIPA) for single-pass membrane proteins, and MBPred (Membrane Binding-site Prediction) for the interfacial residues prediction of alpha-helical membrane proteins. These two algorithms have been proved to have high prediction performance.
