Einem zielgerichteten Umgang mit Komplexität und einer komplexitätsgerechten Systemgestaltung stehen in der Automobilproduktion das mangelnde Verständnis dieses Phänomens und die fehlende Quantifizierbarkeit gegenüber. Um dem zu begegnen, wurden in der Dissertation technische und soziale Charakteristika von Komplexität im KomplexitätsPotentialModell verknüpft und ein Quantifizierungsmodell für wahrgenommene Komplexität entwickelt. Im Rahmen einer vierstufigen Methodik werden diese Erkenntnisse am Beispiel der Automobilproduktion operationalisiert und anhand eines Fallbeispiels evaluiert.     «

In automotive industry the insufficient understanding of complexity and the missing ability for its quantification counter a goal-oriented handling of this phenomenon and a complexity driven system design. To address this issue, technical and social characteristics of complexity were combined in the ComplexityPotentialModel and a quantification model for perceived complexity was developed in the thesis.
