Visuo-haptic perception is an essential ability for autonomous robots that operate in so-called unstructured environments. This work presents approaches for multimodal object/scene modeling and corresponding planning methods, which integrate haptic and visual data for navigation tasks, joint acquisition of object geometry and manipulation of deformable thin-walled objects. Furthermore, a visuo-haptic sensor is proposed, which acquires forces and contact profiles using an external camera that tracks the deformation of a passive elastic element.
