Abstract:
The cellular prion protein PrP(c) is attached to the plasma membrane by a glycosyl-phosphatidyl-inositol (GPI-) anchor and is localized in lipid rafts, membrane microdomains characterized by a high content of sphingolipids and cholesterol.
