Patterns for Mobile Open Government Data Applications

By making open government data available for public consumption, public administrations or intermediaries implement and operate portals and applications. Due to the fact that information acquisition via mobile devices increased the past years, driven by rapid technical development and availability of a wide-area mobile data network, the provision of open government data via mobile devices is necessary. As a consequence, we focus on mobile open government data applications within our research. The goal of this article is twofold: (1) an application landscape of mobile open government data applications in German-speaking countries ? 193 applications from Germany, 38 from Switzerland, and 94 from Austria; and (2) recommendations from a marketing perspective for the development of future open government data apps that address public administrations and intermediaries.     «
