The dynamics of bacterial community structure on different leaf litter incubated in different soil types was examined. Moreover, the effect of compost amendment on bioremediation of petroleum-contaminated soil was investigated. Sequencing data of 16S rRNA gene fragments indicate a specific bacterial colonization of fresh leaf material, which adapts to the soil specific bacterial community in later degradation stages. Compost amendment to petroleum-contaminated soil triggers the richness and diversity of alkB-harboring prokaryotes.
