A prerequisite to maintain and improve its market position successfully, an enterprise needs to anchor sustainably the management of product variety in its development organization. This thesis provides an understanding of the influence of product variety management on the performance in product development in form of an influence model. The latter serves as basis for a methodological approach to assess self-reliantly deficiencies in performance and their causes. The results of the performance analysis allow for deducing improvement measures.
