This dissertation deals with neddylation in the plant model organism
Arabidopsis thaliana. Like ubiquitin, NEDD8 can be conjugated to substrate proteins and serves as a posttranslational protein modification. It could be shown that an inhibitor of neddylation developed as an anticancer drug in humans is also functional in plants. Furthermore, the protein ML3 could be identified as a new NEDD8 substrate in
Arabidopsis, and first steps towards the characterization of this protein of unknown function were undertaken.
