Examining Influence Factors in Cross-Cultural Distributed Design

Design processes are changing because of increasing globalization. More and more design teams work locally and sometimes even culturally distributed. Even if different cultures in a design team can cause problems in the design process, the influences of cultural aspects on the design process are usually neither known nor considered. By analyzing cross-cultural design processes major aspects of cross-cultural cooperation shall be identified. In this paper a list of possible influence factors and a procedure how to evaluate them is presented. Based on these aspects, it is possible to propose approaches to support distributed collaborative design and beyond that, detect the detailed strenghts of cross-cultural design teams. This should be the basis to develop more effective support for such cross-cultural processes in the furure.     «
