- Abstract:
- This thesis studies and develops concepts and algorithms for understanding and improving the behavior of middleboxes, their traversal and their application to security, privacy and connectivity problems in computer networks. An experimental analysis serves as a basis for a knowledge-based middlebox traversal framework improving the connectivity of existing and future applications in a secure way. Obtained results show performance and applicability advantages compared to the state of the art.

- In dieser Arbeit wird das Verhalten von Middleboxen sowie deren Konsequenz für heutige Netzwerke in einer experimentellen Analyse untersucht. Darauf aufbauend wird ein wissensbasiertes Framework entwickelt, das eine anforderungsgerechte, sichere und performante Middlebox-Traversierung für verschiedene Anwendungsklassen ermöglicht. Abschließend werden neue Lösungskonzepte für die Anwendbarkeit von Middlebox-basierten Diensten auf aktuelle Sicherheits- und Privatheitsprobleme vorgestellt.
