Abstract:
Neuronal plasticity is the physiological correlate of learning and memory. In animal experiments, synaptic (i.e. long-term potentiation (LTP) and depression (LTD)) and intrinsic plasticity are distinguished. In human motor cortex, cortical plasticity can be demonstrated using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
