To validate the flow characteristics of a semi-filled circular pipe under laminar flow conditions, an experimental setup is employed to clarify the base case for future studies on the turbulent regime. The study aims to validate the flow behavior in such pipe configuration using experimental setups, which could be pivotal in understanding base cases for future investigations into various flow dynamics and has practical implications for designing and operating efficient fluid transport systems under similar conditions. Key parameters such as the Reynolds number, friction factor, velocity profiles (in-plane and out-of-plane), viscous and turbulent stress, and Reynolds stress tensor (normal and shear) are analyzed to verify the laminar flow regime. The study uses Stereo-PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique to check, measure and validate the instantaneous velocity fields for fully and semi-filled flows in laminar regime. The findings can help validate secondary flow and enhance the understanding of flow dynamics in such systems, serving as a foundation for further detailed investigations into the turbulent regime and various flow dynamics.
