Die Arbeit behandelt die früheste Kopie des Genter Altars. Die 1557 von König Philipp II. in Auftrag gegebene Kopie wurde durch den flämischen Maler Michiel Coxcie in nur zwei Jahren vollendet. Die Hintergründe der Entstehung werden beleuchtet, sowie die Geschichte der Kopie und des Originals nachvollzogen. Die maltechnische Untersuchung der Tafel mit der Darstellung des thronenden Gottvater, die Abweichungen der Maltechnik im Vergleich zum Original und daraus resultierende materialbedingte Veränderungen der Kopie bilden den Schwerpunkt der Arbeit.     «

The thesis paper deals with the earliest copy of the Ghent Altarpiece. The copy was painted in 1557 for King Philipp II. by the painter Michiel Coxcie, who finished the work in only two years. The background of the development are being layed out as well as the history of the copy and the original. The painting technique analysis of the panel with the image of the Godfather, the variation of the painting technique in comparison to the original and the resulting material based changes of the copy are the emphasis of the thesis.     «
