The origin of the reliquary can be assumed in south Germany and was examined in the Bavarian State Department of Historical Monuments. The iconographic programme of the relics indicates the origin in a Jesuit context. The illusion of the materials of marble, gold cloth and red velvet, created with marbling, gilding and silvering and coloured glazes, has been examined. The created illusions of the materials in gilding and painting techniques were compared to samples of real materials. The almost untouched surfaces with rarely proved Copal-Sandarac-Lacquer and coloured glazes emphasise its relevance as an important example of Rococo Art.
