After a brief history of the development of the buckling theory, the partial differential equations and the solutions to the non-linear buckling theory will be presented.

After the presentation of measures for the reinforcement of buckled slender web, one work-example will be calculated.
However the main focus of this thesis is web-breathing.
Detailed experimental and theoretical investigations with statistical analysis will be made. The effects of the influenced parameter on the secondary bending stresses y will be studied. Based on these investigations, one proposal for fatigue verification against web-breathing will be made.
