The current spatial and vertical distribution of
137Cs in forest soils of Bavaria is for the first time comprehensively captured in detail by means of a specifically designed monitoring concept, and analyzed with respect to the particular influence of organic humus layers. In addition, the application of a GPR (
ground penetrating radar) is for is for the first time tested as a novel method for investigating humous horizons in forest soils in order to support a fast transfer of site specific results to ubiquitous information on humus and radiocesium variability across Bavaria.
