The aim of this doctoral thesis is to study the driving load on electric vehicles and the resulting effects on battery ageing. A developed big data approach allows to identify the driving behaviour of existing battery electric vehicles. A second life approach is more advisable with decreasing residual life, due to reduced stress on the pack. By taking into account the historical data, the concept therefore classifies a battery with the most suitable second life application, which allows the agreement of lifetime and profit from technical and economic viewpoint.
