Product individualization in recent years leads to a rapid increase of diversity at product and process level. Through this development many manufacturing companies are being faced with the task to integrate strategies to control and reduce complexity in the product development process. A possible approach is the introduction of appropriate product architectures, e.g. modular and platform design. Therefor an approach for situational analysis and enhancement of product architectures is needed. Objective of this dissertation is to provide product architects a stepwise compendium to support project planning of architecture analysis projects and to facilitate the method selection to identify optimization potential.
