Within the present study three central questions were treated. Firstly, the relevant descriptors and structures were determined, which represent key factors influencing the potential energy deployment of bioenergy in defined regions. It was then, based on complex analysis and comparison of different methods, the most appropriate methodology for the analysis of potential bioenergy was identified. By applying these methods in different, defined reference regions, it was finally investigated, whether they can serve as a universal tool for arbitrary regions.
