In this study, exergy analysis is applied to determine the efficiency of a wood cascading system in comparison with a reference system. Furthermore, the eco-efficiency of a new wood recycling process is evaluated by the joint analysis of Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Costing. The results show that cascading leads to an increase of the efficiency of wood utilization and can contribute to safeguarding primary resources. The recycling of recovered wood shows economic and environmental benefits compared to alternative treatments.
