Do receptors across class C GPCR families have the ability to form heterodimers on blood leukocytes? Immunocytochemistry + Co-IP revealed colocalization and heterodimerization of mGluR2 and TAS1R3. Their functionality was validated in recombinant mGluR2/TAS1R3 test cells. Screenings with bacterial supernatants demonstrated the interaction of bacterial metabolites with mGluR2/TAS1R3. In addition, the bacterial metabolite geosmin was identified as a specific agonist for the odorant receptor OR11A1.
