Description:
The dataset contains the results of two monomodal rail accessibility analyses for 266 German city-regions performed for the years 1990, 2000, 2010, and 2020 as presented in the journal article “Rail Accessibility in Germany: Changing Regional Disparities between 1990 and 2020” in “Spatial Research and Planning”.
Method of data assessment:
The data was created by (a) running a gravitational accessibility analysis of population with an exponential decay factor of 0.0057 (b) an analysis of directly connected regions on the German rail network in 10 year intervals between 1990 and 2020. The rail network data was assembled through manual digitalisation of timetables and scraping of web resources. For the calculations, ArcGIS 10.5 and MS Excel were used. A detailed description can be found in the journal article.
The spatial reference are the "Stadt-Land-Regionen" of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (2015).
