In view of the impending climate change, sustainability and efficiency in vehicles and drive systems are assuming a more and more decisive role. Especially minimising no-load losses, particularly in fast-rotating transmissions, has gained prominence. Nowadays, CFD has become a highly effective tool for predicting no-load power losses and lubrication design for geared transmissions. The central enquiry of this study is concerned with the potential of CFD for predicting gearbox lubrication and gear power losses.
