The present master thesis deals with 2D-numerical simulations of flooding events at a riverwave spot in Zillertal, Austria. The projects intention is to create a site, that enables surfing on a standing wave in a newly developed bypass of the Ziller. A numerical model of the planned modification of the river stretch has been generated with the help of the Surface-water Modeling System software, SMS, and flooding events have been simu- lated with the Basement software. The results for the prevailing situation have been compared to those of the planned one, to qualify the altered discharge conditions. Based on these results, adaptations have been made to the model in the planned state to develop a permittable design of the river. Within the scope of the projects standards, it was necessary to investigate geometric variations of the river section, to investigate the operating mode of the site and to validate the models sensitivity on boundary conditions, such as bed roughness. Predominantly, the main objective was to maintain the current discharge situation as good as possible and to not exacerbate the situation in flooding events in the area of the project and its close surroundings. As a reference, the results of the discharge investigation, that were conducted on behalf of the land Tirol in the year 2011 have been obtained. The developed geometry of the present thesis contains both an optimized shape for the Ziller and its planned bypass and a design recommendation for the structures that needs to be built. These are a modular structure for the generation of a standing wave and on an inflatable rubber dam in the Ziller for the control of endowment of the bypass. It could be shown that the operating mode of the site can contribute to large extent to a save discharge situation in a flooding event. It has been identified that the present water levels are raised due to the planned actions, even after the optimization. Especially the closer area of the building site is affected by overtoppings. Indeed the perceptions could help to limit the impacts. The results of this thesis will be integrated into the planning during the further procedure and are thus part of the project. A physical model at the University of Innsbruck at the Arbeitsbereich Wasserbau has been adapted, based on the input of the developed ge- ometry of the river stretch. On this model, the operating mode is now to be investigated.     «
