A grid independent study was done for the case of two-dimensional flow over periodic hills with three different turbulence models used. The simulation was done using the RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes) method and the results was then compared with the available experimental and LES (Large Eddy Simulation) results. The results show that the RANS method is able to produce agreeable velocities, however runs into challenges when modeling the turbulent kinetic energy and the Reynolds Stress. The stream- lines that are produced by each turbulent model also varies, where the K-omega turbulence models produce the largest recirculation zone, while the K-ε produces the smallest. This occurs due, to the possibility of the damping functions, wall functions and closure coefficients affecting the results.     «
