Pipes make an important contribution in hydromechanics, because many sewage pipes and built in pipes are produced with a circular cross-section. While primary flows have been well researched, the occurence and the behavior of secondary flows is still in discussion. After a publication of the professorship of hydromechanics at the Technical University of Munich about the numeric simulation of secondary flows in semi-filled pipes, an experimental setup was validated which should be able to image secondary flows with Stereo-Particle-Image-Velocimetry. The results are compared with previous results based on numeric simulations. Therefore a theoretical overview on Stereo-Particle-Image-Velocimetry and secondary flows is given. After that the setup, the execution with different input parameters and the evaluation are discribed. Finally the results are presented. The conclusion evaluates the setup to be capable of recording secondary flows, if the setup and the evaluation will be modified.
