It is the main theme of this thesis to get a validation of a new experimental setup. This setup is used tu measure flows in a circular pipe by analysinga tubulent flow in a semifilled pip. For this experiment there is a flow with Reτ = 460 and the measurements are made by “Particle Image Velocimetry“. Thereby the measurement was carried out by the different durations between the exposures ∆t = 10000µs and ∆t = 6000µs. In the following the received data were evaluated. To analyse the quality of the gotten data and thus the experimental setup the results are compared with each other and with the simulations from the thesis “Numercial Investigation of Secondary Currents in Partially Filled Pipe Flow“ by Mr. Julian Frederic Brosda. The results of the measurement show that usually the used setup is suitable for analysing flows because the received data obtain matches to the simulation and the figures are similar to these from Brosda. Two vorticles for the secondary flows can also be recognized very well for both durations. Especially directly at the wall of the pipe and the free water surface, it is evident that some incorrect measurement data was measured and in these areas the results are not similar to the expected ones. These errors occur both in the measurement of ∆t = 10000µs and ∆t = 6000µs. The results show that no concrete statement can be made as to which duration between the exposures the data is fitting better to Brosda’s simulations, as one duration has advantages over the other. For instance, the measurement with ∆t = 10000µs produces are better result in the representation of the “Law of the Wall“ compared to ∆t = 6000µs. On the other hand the representation of the “Velocity Dip“ with ∆t = 6000µs is within the expected range, whereas for ∆t = 10000µs it is not.
