To determine the effect of no-slip and free-slip boundaries on turbulent structures, a monopole Lamb Oseen vortex was numerically simulated in a mixed and no-slip bounded quadratic domain. A series of 49 simulations was performed in different stages of turbulence and with varying initial vortex center positions. By using a spectral collocation method, highly accu- rate results could be computed. These results reveal an immediate rebound of the vortex, caused by boundary activity, for vortices computed with overall slip conditions. Interest- ingly, vortices computed with free-slip conditions tend to move along the surface, when set close enough. For higher Reynolds numbers, this movement results in a rebound as soon as they reach the transition to the no-slip wall, resembling the one seen for no-slip conditions. In fact, the results indicated that all simulations move towards the center of the domain independent of the initial position and boundary condition.     «
