Recent research focused on developing environmentally friendly main group catalysts as alternatives for transition metal catalysts. This work focuses on the influence of silyl substituents on the synthesis and reactivity of such compounds. Using a sterically enlarged silyl substitute, a new silepin, which is in equilibrium with an isomeric silylene, could be isolated. Furthermore, the reactivity of silyl-substituted disilenes and silylenes with isonitrile and the synthesis and reactivity of group 14 diazoolefin complexes with silanides were investigated.
