Tunnel construction provides a significant difficulty for the planning and executing construction organizations due to its high level of granularity. This is caused by the fact that many of its affecting components are difficult to measure or have a limited range of estimation. Due to
insufficient bid processing and job preparation during the building phase, the project's time and
cost goals are consistently surpassed.
As a result, the goal of this research project is to create a model that enables qualified preliminary planning through process-oriented value stream assessments for shielding measures in tunnel construction, resulting in more accurate estimates, a lower error rate, and cost and time savings. In order to accomplish this, a literature review of the fundamentals of tunnel construction, umbrella safety measures in tunnel construction, lean management, and value stream analyses with
subsequent analysis of the processes was conducted on the one hand, along with a quantitative study on safety measures in tunnel construction that was targeted at the German-speaking population.
The study's findings identify the procedural requirements, process-specific variables, and geological elements that affect each process and must be taken into consideration. Additionally,
a model was created to aid in the assessment of the project and its contingencies during the preliminary planning stage of the building project using process-oriented value stream analyses. Hence inadequate bid processing and task preparation can be prevented. The project goals can be accomplished as a result, the mistake rate is decreased, and construction time and costs are kept within reasonable bounds.
