Abstract:
Compatible solutes are low molecular weight, highly water-soluble and neutrally net-charged molecules with various protective functionalities that accumulate and are produced in microorganisms. Their multi-purpose functionalities, also adaptable in vitro, make them potential components in healthcare and cosmetic products.
