The goal of this thesis was to understand how biotic and abiotic factors and processes influence the insect community structure of aphids (
Metopeurum fuscoviride), associated mutualistic ants and natural enemies on their host-plant (
Tanacetum vulgare). A special focus was on the impact of plant chemical variation and how it can directly and indirectly affect species interactions. A better understanding of such dynamics help to close the gap between theoretical and empirical metacommunity ecology.
