- Abstract:
- Neddylation is a post-translational protein modification mediated by the small ubiquitin-like protein Nedd8. The present study revealed that neddylation plays critical roles in controlling adipogenesis and adipocyte function. Different mouse models were used to gain insight in the biological relevance of Nedd8 in obesity and metabolism. The present study proposes neddylation as a potential therapeutic target in the treatment of adiposity and obesity-related metabolic disorders.

- Neddylierung ist eine posttranslationale Proteinmodifikation, die durch das kovalente Anhängen des Ubiquitin-ähnlichen Proteins Nedd8 an Zielproteine gekennzeichnet ist. Diese Arbeit zeigte, dass Neddylierung eine wichtige Rolle in der Differenzierung und der Funktion von Adipozyten spielt. Mithilfe von Mausmodellen konnten Einblicke in die biologische Relevanz von Nedd8 in Adipositas und Metabolismus gewonnen werden.
