Tree species mixing and stand density reduction are considered promising silvicultural adaptation measures under climate change. However, the effect of such measures on productivity and drought susceptibility are still poorly understood. This work scrutinises the potential of both measures in relation to Scots pine and oak. Mixing increased stand productivity and mitigated tree drought susceptibility. Reduced stand density improved tree drought responses. Site conditions modified the effect of both measures.
