The thesis focuses on the development of a fiber-optical measurement system using FBG sensors for temperature measurements for space applications. The interrogation technique is based on a tunable laser concept (modulated-grating Y-branch laser). The extreme conditions in space environment (temperature and radiation), required detailed analysis. Thermal test results of FBG sensors using the developed interrogator illustrate that the performance goal of measurement accuracy of +/- 1°C is achieved.
