To date regioselective halogenation methods are rare even though halogenated structural motifs are significant in many fields of application. The present thesis focuses on the mild and selective halogenation concepts which can be found in nature. In this context, novel representatives of the enzyme class of Vanadium-dependent haloperoxidases are investigated with respect to their halogen- and substrate selectivity as well as their applicability in enzymatic halogenation of organic substrates and in photobiocatalysis.
