Chronic Helicobacter pylori infection is characterized by dense infiltration of the mucosa with neutrophilic granulocytes, lymphocytes, and monocytes/macrophages. Among these different cell types, T-lymphocytes are the most intriguing and crucial cells for the elimination of the bacteria.
