Abstract:
Background: Cognitive impairment in hemodialysis patients is common, but the underlying pathogenesis remains unclear. Alzheimers disease is the most common cause of dementia in the general elderly population. Histopathological hallmarks are, among others, senile plaques, which consist of amyloid-beta (A beta).
