Abstract:
An adaptive finite element procedure for three-dimensional computations of thin-walled structures is presented. The approach is based on a hexahedral of high order, which allows to adaptively control the polynomial degree in the three local directions of the element. A hierarchical error indicator is applied to automatically adjust the polynomial degree in thickness and in in-plane direction of plate- and shell-like structures.
