Abstract:
Coupled problems arising in biomechanics on the cellular and sub-cellular scale are discussed based on two model systems: the human red blood cell (RBC) and biopolymeric networks. We present a novel finite-element based model on cellular level for RBC and demonstrate its potential to realistically simulate various experimental results with one set of parameters.
