An easy-to-use software tool for vessel extraction and region-of-interest delineation can allow computed tomography angiography scans to be used for navigation planning to create a 3D roadmap, representing a path through the vessel system from the starting region to the actual pathology. The main focus of this paper is on creation of a strong link between diagnostics and interventional imaging. In most catheterisation procedures the diagnostic computed tomography angiography (CTA) images could be used not only for diagnosis but also for planning and guidance. This however requires innovative solutions to the following issues: • Adaption of the scanning protocol and creation of intelligent planning tools. • Development of advanced methods for automatic co-registration of pre-interventional CTA and interventional angiographic images. • Introduction of innovative visualisation providing maximum information with minimum user interaction and smooth integration into the clinical workflow. In this article, we will present an overview of our most recent results providing new solutions to these critical issues integrating all available radiological data into a smooth end-to-end user interface.     «
