The open circuit voltage of each individual subcell in a multi-junction solar cell is accessible dynamically by illuminating a given subcell with spatially homogeneous laser light with a rising edge in the μs regime. The influence of luminescent coupling is eliminated by over-illuminating all subcells below this subcell. This proposed method is verified experimentally as well as through simulations on state of the art triple and four-junction space solar cells. By using a suns-???????????? approach, the dark saturation currents of each subcell are extracted as well.
