Nowadays, drivers of commercial vehicles are confronted with a wide variety of in-vehicle systems - and thus even with a wider variety of system messages. The output of these messages is hardly coordinated and regardless of the current state of the driver. Building on this problematic circumstance, the research motivation is derived: the design, implementation, and testing of an information management system for commercial vehicles. The system estimates the driver’s current workload with respect to the given driving situation. Based upon this estimation, the information management system coordinates the timing of in-vehicle messages while taking into account their importance and urgency at the same time.
