Understanding the current state of construction projects is essential for construction planners and workers to accomplish safe and successful on-site tasks. Due to a dynamically changing environment, it is challenging to fully recognize unsafe situations that appear and disappear in construction sites. Typically, safety experts put continuous manual efforts in monitoring the construction site’s conditions to prevent construction-related accidents. In spite of efforts to reduce fatal accidents on construction sites, such as following the construction-safety regulations, workers are still exposed to incidents of injuries and fatalities. This research proposes a BIM-based low-cost proximity service for supporting workers’ safety in construction sites.
