Abstract:
Supported silver catalysts exhibit a remarkably high selectivity in the industrially important hydrogenation of alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes to unsaturated alcohols. We carried out density functional calculations to clarify factors that affect the catalytic function of silver in hydrogenating unsaturated aldehydes.
