The topic of this dissertation is the synthesis of chiral N-heterocyclic carbenes, the corresponding transition metal complexes, as well as their application in hydrosilylation. On the one hand new synthesis routes for ligands and transition metal complexes had to be found, on the other hand established strategies with new compounds were tested to oprimise the results. Another aspect was the invetigation on ligand properties for transitin metal catalysed trasnfer hydrogenation. Here, several parameters, as the steric properties of ligands or the electronic properties of complex ligands were investigated.
