This thesis comprises of the synthesis and characterization of the bis(NHI)-stabilized chlorotetrylenes and their reactivity towards various reagents. This led to the synthesis of tetrylene-tetrylone-iron complexes, Li/Sn/Fe trimetallic complex, and bis(imino)tetrylenes. Moreover, the synthesis and reactivity of a novel three-coordinate bis(imino)germanone was described. Initial application of the bis(NHI)-stabilized tin(II) cations in the catalytic hydroboration of carbonyls demonstrates their potential as alternatives to expensive transition-metals.
